The successful and cash rich Ladbrokes want to make their mark in the online gaming world and have so far failed to do this. They have had enormous success within the retail domain in the UK and their track record speaks for itself. To make inroads in the online gambling world, it makes sense that Ladbrokes would set their sights on an online casino giant such as 888 Casino.

In 2025, Chris Bell, the former Ladbrokes chief executive, tried to purchase the 888 Casino but withdrew from the deal after legal troubles in the US along with a crack down on online gambling for residents of the US. Now, almost five years later, the rumour mill is circulating with the same rumours again.

It is believed that Ladbrokes new chief executive, Richard Glynn has held very early talks with 888 Casino regarding a potential takeover by Ladbrokes. Ladbrokes were very keen to emphasise that discussions were only in the very preliminary stages and that nothing had been tendered by either side.

It seems as if only time will tell if Ladbrokes is going to buy 888 Casino. If the speculation proves to be correct, we will also have to wait to see if this is a good move for the leading UK bookmaking firm.
