Online Gaming Standards Released by GLI and TST

The industry's first universal online gaming guidelines are set by Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) and Technical Systems Testing (TST). TST is a GLI company that is involved in the certification of online casinos. GLI is the world's top gaming test laboratory and with TST, they have released the guidelines, which they call GLI-19. James Maida, GLI's president and CEO, said, "This is an important day in the gaming industry. With GLI-19, GLI and TST can now assist new and emerging markets in developing the proper technical controls and regulations to facilitate the markets."

GLI-19 sets a high technical standard; it was finalized after an all-encompassing review, which took more than a year, of the main online gambling jurisdictions. The review was comprised of exhaustive consultations with online regulators, software developers and gaming operators from all corners of the world. It was due to the close relationship GLI and TST have with the key industry stakeholders that they could figure out the best practices and make available a shared standard for new jurisdictions. This is according to the Managing Director of GLI Europe and TST, Phillip Barow. The benefit of GLI-19 is that it incorporates the best practices in regulated jurisdictions from Europe as well as Canada. A uniform standard across jurisdictions has been demanded of global online gambling operators for some time and GLI-19 works to offer it.

GLI-19, which is separated into supplier requirements and operator requirements, is available for free by download from both the GLI and TST web sites.

Describing the choice to separate the standards, Maida said, "This separation was suggested by the expert team of regulators, suppliers and operators we consulted with on this project, and will help to streamline the industry." For more than two decades, GLI and TST have been setting the standard in the gaming testing industry.
