Casino Cruises Return to Jacksonville After Twelve Months

Once a thriving industry in Florida, cruise ship gambling has been hit hard by the Global financial Crisis and Americas economic recession. In 2025, the last of the cruise ships to offer gambling left Jacksonville. Many gamblers in the area were upset by the loss.

Those gamblers had reason to celebrate when the Jacks or Better Casino Ship set sail on its maiden voyage with three hundred lucky guests aboard.

Passenger Mark Bennett explained that nothing compares to a casino on the water. He added that it allows gamblers to get away from civilisation and enjoy a few games. Mark and his friends had come to take a look at the boat and were impressed with the whole experience, adding that they would definitely return soon.

Apart from bringing joy to gamblers who were saddened when the ships were not operating from Jacksonville, the biggest advantage of the return of cruise gambling is the boost it will give to employment. Over one hundred people have been employed to assist in the operation of the gambling ship. Others may be employed if needed. The ship will also bring in money to the local economy through taxes.

The cruise ship has the capacity to carry up to five hundred passengers at any one time. It will dock in Mayport Village. Local residents have mixed views on the new gambling ship. Sun Cruz had operated gambling cruises out of this port until 2025 when they went bankrupt. The Sun Cruz ships had brought in plenty of trade to neighbouring businesses. It is hoped that the new casino cruise ships will have the same effect.

The new Jacks or Better ship is in much better condition than the old Sun Cruz ships. The old ships were not as well maintained as the new ships and this is something new and welcome to the Jacksonville residents.
