Twelve days after the draw, Lotto firm Camelot confirmed that the massive prize had been claimed. They would not reveal whether the prize had been won by an individual or a syndicate.
If the prize has been one by an individual, they have become the UK's 589th richest person. They have joined the ranks of Britain's rich list above music recording stars Rod Stewart, David Bowie and Phil Collins.
Camelot refused to reveal where the winning lottery ticket was purchased. The rumour mill is in overdrive with speculation that the ticket was sold in Coventry.
A woman aged in her 70's had last week accused her husband of binning the winning ticket. She said that she kept a note of the numbers on the ticket 9, 30, 35, 39, 46 and lucky stars 6 and 8. She purchased the ticket for the May 8 draw at her local Spar shop.
The pensioner who remains unnamed asked a relative to contact Camelot about the lost ticket. Camelot revealed that they had received more than one thousand lost ticket claims over this jackpot.
The record £113,019,926 win overshadows the previous UK record payout of £84.4 million in May of this year. The winner of the May jackpot was adamant about remaining anonymous.
Four months prior Nigel Page, 43, and his partner Justine Laycock, 41, from Barnsley, Gloucs, won a fantastic £56 million on EuroMillions and went public. They spent a portion of their winnings on a new £4million environmentally friendly mansion. Their old £400,000 home was left to their cleaner Denise Kelso.
If the winner of the latest jackpot were to put the money in the bank, they would earn a staggering £8,500 every day.
