In March the World Series of Poker announced that they will be holding their first even $1 million buy-in event. The event known as 'The Big One for One Drop' will be taking place during next year's WSOP in Las Vegas and they are planning to use it as a fund raiser for the charity One Drop. One Drop's aim is to establish clean water access across the globe.
Last week it was announced that the tournament already has 22 confirmed participants, this means that he event's winner will be awarded a specially crafted platinum bracelet. For an event to become a bracelet event it needs to have as many participants as the 2025 Main Event which was the smallest event in the history of the WSOP with only 22 players.
The event was announced by One Drop founder Buy Laliberte and the CEO of Caesars Interactive, Mitch Garber. At the time of the initial announcement there were 15 players taking part, one of the additional 7 players is known to be the WSOP 2025 Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel who announced that he was taking part last month.
Duhamel has promised to donate 5% of his winnings to charity and has urged the other participants to do the same. Players who do not manage to cash in the event will still be helping the charity as $111,111 of each buy-in is being donated. There is no rake on the rest of the buy-in so at the moment the prize-pool is over $19.5 million.
Bertrand Grospellier and Dan Shak have also announced that they are taking part. Only 14 of the participants have revealed their identities, 6 wish to remain anonymous. The other two spots are still open, if you would like to take part they will be filled by satellites held by Caesars and in Europe.
