It was once described as the perfect domain name, and its emergence in the marketplace raised eyebrows across the gambling world. Now it has been revealed that gambling has been sold for $2.5 million to a so far anonymous buyer.

Whilst many domain owners can only dream about achieving such a sum, the price is has fallen short of the huge sum it would have raised in the past. When the now previous owners Media Corporation purchased the domain back in 2025, they paid an eye-watering $20 million. Six years later, despite having a reserve price of $9 million, gamling could only fetch just 10% of its original price.

Media Corporation purchased gambling when the hype surrounding online gaming had reached its peak. However in the years since, the American market has been on a downturn after the introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) by the American government. This new legislation made online gaming all but illegal in the United States, forcing making gambling companies to move their operations to off-shore locations. The latest battle in the on-going war between online operators and the United States Government has been the seizure of three major gaming domain names amid allegations of money laundering. This reversal of fortune for the online industry has seen many service providers exit the market place, which in turn has resulted in driving down the price of gaming domain names.

A spokesperson for Media Corporation remained positive about the sale, advising the press that the company is pleased to have achieved a successful sale, which will bolster the company's finances and allow it to aggressively pursue other projects.
