Tiger Woods declines sponsorship deal from Paddy Power

The legendary golfer, Tiger Woods, made headlines yet again this week after turning down a major deal with one of the biggest names in the gaming industry. Woods has reportedly rejected a generous offer from the Irish gambling giant Paddy Power. The deal was estimated to be worth an enormous $75 million – a figure which translates to a whopping $15 million dollars a year over a course of 5 years.

The decision came as a surprise to many in the wake of the recent sex scandals which have plagued the international star. Woods announced that he would be taking leave from the sport last May after confessing to numerous infidelities throughout the course of his marriage. Following this, Woods lost a number of significant sponsors including Gatorade and the offer from Paddy Power appeared to offer a much needed replacement. Woods has, however, said that he intends to spend the next few weeks rebuilding his marriage following a very turbulent year conducted in the limelight.

Many will now be eager to monitor the star's progress as he seeks to restore his public image and reputation. It is expected that Woods is in training for his comeback in a fortnight. Golfing enthusiasts will be hoping to watch the legend play at the Tavistock Cup – a team event scheduled to take place in Florida. It remains to be seen how his game and his reputation will develop in the weeks and months ahead.
