WSOP venue, Binion's, to set to close

The home of the World Series of Poker is set to close after years of hosting the celebrated gaming event. Binion's, one of the world's most beloved casino venues, owned and operated the WSOP for some 36 years. Harrah's Entertainment took over the WSOP in 2025 and the imminent closure of Binion's marks the last phase in what many will remember as the golden era for the competition.

The decision to close Binion's has been put down to financial difficulties dating back well over a decade. Spokeswoman, Lisa Robinson, revealed that the company's hotel rooms were failing to generate sufficient revenue in an increasingly difficult and competitive market. The company revealed that the hotel, keno parlor and coffee shop will be the first to go whilst the casino, poker room, sports book and steakhouse will still be up and running and open to visitors. TLC Enterprises, owner of Binion's gambling Hall and Hotel will also be losing 100 staff members – one eighth of their total employees.

The decision has been met with a great deal of disappointment from poker players and enthusiasts across the world. Matt Savage, director of the WSOP, wrote of how the venue is already "missed by those that played the WSOP". Poker enthusiasts will no doubt be mourning the loss of one of their most beloved casinos and will be monitoring the company's progress with great anticipation in the hope of witnessing a reopening in the near future. Meanwhile the WSOP continues to go from strength to strength as new players grab at the opportunity to take part in one of the world's most high profile gaming events.
