The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC), the body responsible for the revocation of Full Tilt Poker's licences, has commissioned an independent review into their own actions.
Full Tilt Poker have not had a good year since being shut down by the US Department of Justice, they have been trying to repay seized bank accounts and have also been trying to deal with claims from shareholders, board members and a number of players who are trying to access their money.
The committee carrying out the review will be chaired by Pete Dean CBE, the former chairman of the British Gambling Commission. The AGCC has said that the aim of the review is to 'provide full transparency'.
It is expected that the review will be completed and that Dean shall submit his report by the end of next March. The Executive Director of the AGCC, Andre Wilsenach, said that they became aware of some possible irregularities in relation to Full Tilt's "operational integrity". He went on to say that that the AGCC "acted to discharge fully our statutory obligations".
Wilsenach said that the AGCC believes that they acted appropriately and fairly at all times. However, after finishing an internal assessment and after a number of questions were raised by outsiders they have decided that it is in the best interests of "players, licence holders and AGCC itself" for an independent review to take place and publish the outcome.
Wilsenach has expressed delight that Peter Dean will be heading the review. He believes that dean is the right man for the job due to his "many years of experience at the top of the British Gambling Commission and commands wide respect from operators and regulators alike."
Dean's review will be focussing on the actions taken by the AGCC in regards to Full Tilt and specifically on the "appropriateness, timeliness and fairness" of what took place.
