Buying 888 Not Just a Matter of Money

To sell or not to sell, that is the question. At least that is the thought when it comes to 888, one of the biggest online casino operators across the globe. Receiving differing offers all the time, it seems doubtful that the company will ever actually be sold, despite the tempting bids to come their way.

One company that has made an offer is the online casino software company, Playtech. Not the first to offer by a long shot, Playtech itself is a ₤1 billion company, but it remains to be seen as to whether their purchase price of ₤200 million will be accepted.

Just last month an offer was made to buy 888 for a rather tidy sum. Ladbrokes, a leading company in online gambling, suggested a purchase price of ₤240 million, but were turned down. 888 have been offered various selling prices, both higher and lower than this, on multiple occasions but each time the deal has not gone through. Considering this history, it seems unlikely that it will even be sold, despite the tempting offers being made.

Nonetheless, various companies remain attracted to the notion of 888. Keeping in mind its success, it is no wonder that Playtech and Ladbrokes were interested enough to make their respective, generous offers.

The value of 888 has gone down as a result of the recent international economic crisis, impacting its value, which has decreased from approximately a billion to about ₤169 million. It is doubtful that the company will sell, since it has a strong client base, specifically in the UK online gambling community.
