The social networking site, Facebook, has become the latest resource to attract the interest of the online gaming industry. Social game developer Playfish, a British company, have released a new Poker Rivals beta test application which will allow players to participate in the game on the Facebook site. The new feature is still in the early stages of its development but it is hoped that users will be able to create a virtual identity in order to take part in the game online.
Poker Rivals currently allows users to make purchases using that payouts plus it allows players to create personalised avatars and animated characters of their choice.
Playfish Limited represents one of the industry's most powerful names and has continued to grow in strength. Recently bought for a sum of $400 million by Electronic Arts, the site is developing its Poker Rivals feature in the hope of continuing its string of successes. Rival developer Zynga recently launched Texas Hold'em Poker to great acclaim and Playfish are hoping for a similar slice of the action with their latest release.
Commenting in the new release the company are advertising the chance to "hit the tables with your friends" and "try your hand in a tournament". What's more, the site is promoting the service to players with a wide range of playing experience.
