That's the question being asked now that William Hill, the English sportsbook, has bought the Leroy's chain. William Hill is well known for their state of the art software.
In April this year, William Hill went on a shopping spree, purchasing 3 Nevada gambling companies.
Vic Salerno, CEO of Leroy's spoke of how William Hill's expansion into Nevada will benefit the state, the sports book industry and will expand the sports industry. He said that Leroy's had been around for 33 years and it was an exciting time moving forward.
Jeff Siri, Cal Neva's CEO said that the acquisition wouldn't change what the current betting software already offered its customers. He also said that the Cal Neva and Leroy's brands would remain.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board still needs to approve the takeover. It is expected to take 12-18 months.
Whether or not a betting software change happens, all other sportsbooks will now be looking to William Hill. There are 183 sportsbooks in Nevada. Leroy's, Cal Neva and Lucky's make up 115 of these.
The majority of the Nevada sportsbooks use the CBS system to take the sportsbook wagers. CBS is a subsidiary of the American Wagering Inc (AWI), the parent company of Leroy's. It was also included in the William Hill acquisition.
If any of the remaining 68 sportsbooks are using CBS, their software will be run by William Hill. Even their information may become the property of William Hill.
Software giant Playtech owns 29% of William Hill and have recently agreed that they will not partner with any of William Hill's competitors in the UK.
